About the artist

Hey there, I’m Hannah!

I’ve been creating ever since I can remember. From illustrating my own stories and drawing original characters in elementary school to making pet portraits and discovering my artistic style in my early twenties, I’ve never stopped making art. It serves as an escape from the mundane, tempers my anxiety, and allows me to bring my daydreams to life.

I mostly work in watercolors because I love how I can manipulate the paint in so many different ways. Watercolor paints are a traditionally soft and subtle medium, yet they can also produce the most vibrant colors - something I love to include in my work. I prefer drawing with pens and markers rather than pencil, otherwise I end up focusing more on erasing instead of creating. Sometimes I paint with acrylics and have recently started dabbling in printmaking. I enjoy needle felting, an uncommon form of art that I picked up in college. And once in awhile I’ll stitch together my own sketchbook. I’m always working on something new.

Thanks for stopping by! ♡

Artist Statement

Watercolor painting allows me to escape my anxieties and enter a headspace that feels like home. I usually work intuitively without any concrete plans, as I like to see where the painting takes me; there’s no need to overthink every paint stroke because once it’s there, I have to keep going. I draw inspiration from memory and emotion. My sense of wonder about the world, trips I’ve taken from the mountains of Wyoming to the forest preserves and parks of Illinois, shines through in abstract landscapes. Fixating on certain emotions such as joy, uncertainty, or hope, leads me to completely abstract pieces in an effort to capture what I can only feel. I hope to invoke a sense of whimsical curiosity in the viewer with every piece I create.
